To equip the students with sound concepts of Applied Sciences, United Group of Institutions has a separate department. UGI covers the entire spectrum of education that gives a unique all-round perspective of holistic education process and also provides a firm grounding in human values to produce well rounded and conscientious citizens and leaders.
The department offers core courses in Applied Mathematics, Applied Physics, Applied Chemistry, and Professional Communication & Humanities.
This department has a well established language lab to improve students Communication, Interpersonal skills and Art of Presentations etc. Applied Physics and Applied Chemistry has well equipped laboratories to impart practical training to all its students.
The department of Humanities and Sciences shall strive to provide powerful educational effectiveness by linking facts, theory, inquiry, discovery and solutions to real world problems thereby providing a sound foundation to the undergraduate students
Applied Science is a bridge that connects pure science with engineering practices. It aims to provide a strong foundation for students of engineering and is one of the indispensable departments of the institute. Chemistry and Biology, along with Advanced Engineering Materials, Professional Ethics, Humanities, Psychology, Environmental Awareness and Entrepreneurship Development are taught at the undergraduate level. Almost every topic taught during lectures has a corresponding laboratory experiment. The Department pays great attention to its laboratories and the equipments and acquires new and modern equipments whenever necessary. The labs provide ample practical experience and facilitate the students to apply what all they have learned. All Laboratories are fully equipped to conduct the experiments as per the syllabus of the University.
It comprises of well-equipped and spacious laboratory for practical training in the subject. Spectrophotometer, PH meter, calorimeter, glass distillation unit, electric balance, electric oven, thermostatic hot plates are some of the major equipments available in working condition. All glass apparatus are of standard borosil and quality reagents required for the practical are available in the laboratory in sufficient quantity.
Physics Laboratory has modern facilities and well-equipped laboratory. Physics Laboratory work, for the B.TECH is an important part of the course. It provides an opportunity for learning through observations to become familiar with the instruments and gaining experience in handing them.
To nurture the students into a perfect engineer, the motive of learning through on hand practice is strictly followed. All students are required to do independent experimentation under the tutelage of experienced faculty. Physics Laboratory is equipped with the following experiments:- Hall Effect set up with electromagnet Four Probe methods Energy Band Gap Electrical Method ,Polarimeter ,Newton’s Rings ,Nodal Slide, Transmission Grating, Carey Foster’s Bridge,Stefan’s Law by Electrical Method, Helmholtz Galvanometer ,Viscosity Calibration of an Ammeter and Voltmeter ,Conversion of Galvanometer into voltmeter. Conversion of Galvanometer into Ammeter. Dark room for optics experiments. Variation of Magnetic Field,, Ballistic Galvanometer ,Hysterics Curve.
Communication skills lab and Audiovisual language lab The Applied Science Department lays equal thrust on developing the student’s communication and soft skills to achieve comprehensive persona enhancement. This lab consists of Communication skills lab and Audio-visual language lab.
The communication skills laboratory attempts to inculcate the practical skills of communication which includes discussion sessions, presentation, mock meetings, mock interviews with an objective of developing the all round personality particularly the qualities of leadership, dynamism, team building, positive value based attitude and confidence among the scholars. Latest Language Lab Software ODLL is being used in Professional Communication Laboratory Student.
Computers, being a part of every engineer’s toolbox, this lab acquaints the students with computer programming to arm them for industry and broaden the horizons of computer knowledge.
The lab where students get an insight on electrical machinery's and circuits and develop the basic skills in constructing and measuring electrical circuits using modern laboratory instruments.
Knowledge of engineering drawing is required to develop the ability to produce and read manufacturing and construction drawings used in industry and to develop a working knowledge of the layout of plant and equipment.
So the aim of the central workshop is to impart practical knowledge and skills to the students Further the associated knowledge of central workshop equips the students with basic knowledge and applications of various types of tools, equipments, machinery and techniques used in manufacturing to provide different shapes to the raw material into useful products.
The lab where students learn about the practical application of the behavior of physical bodies when subjected to forces or displacements, and the subsequent effect of the bodies on their environment. They are acquainted with working model of 2 stroke and 4 stroke engines, various types of Mounting and Accessories of Boilers and impact testing of machines.
